Design Challenge
Expanding GoPro Protection and Carrying Solutions
The Incase Executive team aimed to broaden their business category by designing protective and carrying solutions for GoPro cameras. The design team faced the challenge of creating a range of products, from simple silicone cases to more complex camera bags and pouches, to cater to diverse user needs.
With a sense of urgency, the team quickly procured GoPro cameras and, within a few months, successfully produced the first series of form-fitting silicone cases.
As part of the team, my responsibility was to create highly accurate form-fitting silicone cases by precisely measuring GoPro cameras. I generated detailed 3D drawings, sent them to the manufacturer for review, and expedited the cutting of steel molds.
The challenges included understanding user requirements, meeting tight timelines, and achieving precise measurements and accurate drawings.
By overcoming these challenges, the Incase design team successfully expanded their business category, offering innovative protection and carrying solutions for GoPro cameras. The team's attention to detail, swift execution, and commitment to quality contributed to the project's success.
Contribution
Successfully completed all three types of GoPro silicone cases on time.
Collaborated with a junior industrial designer to create a 3D drawing of an EVA case for another item.
Worked closely with the Branding, Packaging, and Project Management teams to ensure timely delivery of samples.

FORM
The design of the silicone cases is carefully crafted to ensure a precise fit for various GoPro hard cases. The incorporation of Incase design elements, such as rounded corners, edges, and textured surfaces, adds a distinctive touch to the overall aesthetic.
FUNCTION
The black silicone case features a matte finish, effectively concealing the shiny reflective appearance of the original translucent GoPro case. On the other hand, the lumen silicone case offers enhanced visibility, making it easier to locate the GoPro in outdoor environments if it is accidentally dropped or misplaced.
QUALITY
Constructed from a single compression-molded piece of high-grade silicone, these cases provide superior protection for GoPro devices against harsh weather conditions and abrasive surroundings. The durable material ensures long-lasting performance and safeguards the device during adventurous activities.
CREDIT: Roundball type silicone case was created by another Industrial Designer, and all soft goods products were designed by two Industrial Designers under the guidance of a project manager and VP of the Product Department.
